Shanghai Chase 7682

It's not often that I stray away from my favourite Lego themes and sample the delights of others but these vehicles from Lego's Indianna Jones range were just too gorgeous to pass up.

I'm sure the detailing isn't absolutely accurate and the sense of scale is a little off but given the restrictions forced on the designers by the palette of bricks they had at their disposal they are amazing. Restriction, after all, breeds creativity.

Many of you I'm sure will recognize these vehicles from the chase scene in the openign vignette of Indianna Jones And The Temple Of Doom. Don't they just make you want to push them around a tabletop making car noises and emulating gun noises?

Nope? Ah well. Just me, I guess.

Now you're talking my language, Steve

Although one can't say "I was poohing bricks" or "you're a brick" in Danish, one can however choose to say: Man er en brik i et større spil (mahn erh inn brek ee it stirrer spihl)= one is a brick in a larger game. Or: Nu falder brikkerne på plads (nooh phalla brekker-urner poe plass)= now the bricks are falling into place.. Now I see/get it/understand

Check out this flexi-roller if you need a laugh

  2. The flexi-roller is great fun - what Lego officianados would term a "rainbow warrior" (i.e. a model made up of different colours, limited by the builder's collection of bricks).

  3. Cool, didn't know that. I'm definitely an amateur dabbler as I've only got about 2000 bricks

"Han mangler nogle brikker!" He's missing some bricks

Got some bats in the belfry to make up for it though!

  4. He he... a couple of bricks short of a wall, eh? That ain't a bad thing to be. And who says the wall has to be big anyway? 2000 bricks is enough to make some cool models - limitation often aids creativity!
